Hi. I’m a fan of Mr. Raj Kapoor’s films and of course of Shankar-Jaikishan’s music. some years back weekly film news paper `screen’ conducted an opinion poll in which readers were asked to name the movie in which the hindi film music directors had given their best music.sd burman had taxi driver,c.ramchandra had anarkali,hemantkumar-naagin, naushad ratan or anmolgadi(i dont remember which).i dont remember about other music directors.where as in the case of shankarjaikishen ,four movies had been named viz barsaat,awara,aah& SHRI.420 as they found it difficult to name the best of four.eventually it was settled that awara had best music.my memory is hazy about the opinion poll as to whether it was to name the best music director or as cited above.may be the news paper ,screen-can throw some light on this.but the significant thing was four of raj kapoor films had emerged with the best music ever .

Shankar – Jaikishan are hit musician duo of all time in Hindi cinema. Most of the people liked their songs even from new generation.

Shankar and Jaikishan were the best thing to happen to the hindi film industry they brought about a refreshing change in the music filed without compromising the quality and 67 years after their first film Barsaat the beauty, the mesmerising effect of their music is still there. You can write reams of pages on their achievements. I will try to pick ten best SJ numbers this is purely my choice.
1) Do Din Ke Liye by Lata from Badal is the numero uno or first on my list
2) Tune Hai Re Mere Zakhme Jigar again by Lata from Nagina is number two.
3) Rasik Balma by Lata again from Chori Chori the first filmfare award for SJ is my third favourite.
4) Chandrama Madhbhara from Patarani by Lata is on number 4
5) Kar Gaya Re from Basant Bahar LATA ASha duet is my number 5
6) Rum Jhum ke Bajao by Rafi Saab and Krishnarao Chonkar in Pooja is number 6.
7) Mein Piya Teri a Lata solo but I would say it is a duet with Pannalal Ghosh’s Flute in Basant Bahr is my 7
8) Ja Ja Jare Jare Ja from Nay Ghar a lota solo is on number 8
9) O bhole Baalma from Poonam a Lata solo is on number 9
10) Last but not the least is Khushiyon Ka chand muskuraye Re from Mayurpankh again A Lata solo is my last choice.
